Check out the many benefits of membership and join today. \nAbout the Speaker: Anne Linnee\nFollowing a more than 20-year career as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer\, Anne retired from the State Department in 2023. During her career\, she primarily worked on issues in and related to Africa and Asia. Her overseas assignments included Afghanistan\, China\, Mauritania\, Pakistan\, South Africa\, and the United Arab Emirates\, as well as Washington\, DC. Her final assignment was as the U.S. Consul General in Durban\, South Africa. \nOriginally from Minneapolis\, Anne now lives in the Twin Cities where she is involved in a variety of non-profits and regularly lectures around Minnesota on global issues. To satisfy the creative side of her brain\, she also works at a flower shop. \nShe has a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota and a M.S. in National Security Strategy from the National War College in Washington\, DC. Please contact Jo Mattos at jmattos@globalminnesota.org with questions. \nBy registering for the second portion of the event\, students will meet the group at 6:30 pm to embark on a self-guided tour of the Turnblad Mansion and explore the new holiday exhibition Tomte: The Gnome\, the Myth\, the Legend. They will discover the world of Tomte—the mythical guardian of Scandinavian homesteads—and participate in a team photo contest for a chance to win their own Tomte gnome.
