SUMMARY:Edina Great Decisions: Organized Crime in the Americas
DESCRIPTION:This free event is being held in-person and is open to everyone.  \nOrganized crime has created significant transnational problems throughout the Americas including money laundering\, drug smuggling\, and cybercrime. How might countries in the Western Hemisphere increase their cooperation in addressing these complex issues? \nThis program is presented by Edina Community Ed through a partnership with the Edina Senior Center\, the Edina Library\, the Edina Community Center\, and Global Minnesota. \nThe Great Decisions program addresses some of the most timely foreign policy issues facing the United States each year. Global Minnesota facilitates discussion groups across the state\, providing access to a roster of local foreign policy experts and offering Great Decisions books produced by the Foreign Policy Association. \nRob Scarlett\, presenter \nRob Scarlett has had a 40-year career in international sales and manufacturing throughout the Western Hemisphere. Shortly after graduating from Carleton College in 1966\, he became part of a private NGO team that created some of Latin America’s first microfinance institutions. Building on that experience\, he began a decades-long business career that kept him active throughout Latin America\, Central America\, Mexico\, and the Caribbean. \nRegister
