Culture Through Cuisine: Swiss Fondue
January 27, 2020 @ 6:00 pm CST
/ $40 – $50Event Navigation
This program is SOLD OUT.
Creamy, smooth, and hearty, cheese fondue is one of the most recognized Swiss dishes. Originating in the Swiss Alps, it is believed that the practice of fondue was started by farmers who cooked wine, garlic, and herbs with scraps of cheese to create a heart-warming meal on a cold, wintry day.
But fondue is also an experience and lives up to its slogan created by the Schweizer Käseunion (Swiss Cheesemaker Union) of ‘La fondue crée la bonne humeur’, or ‘fondue creates a good mood.’ It’s an opportunity to gather friends and family for a unique culinary and social experience that fosters good conversations and connections.
Join us at the Food Building for the next Culture Through Cuisine and enjoy an evening of fondue and community. Guests will dine on traditional Swiss fondue of Gruyere and Emmentaler cheese and artisan bread, a citrus salad, and an assortment of Swiss chocolates. We’ll hear from Swiss native and Global Minnesota member Stephan Kistler about the history of fondue.
Registration includes food, non-alcoholic beverages, tax, and gratuity. Guests will also receive one drink ticket good for a glass of wine. Advance registration and prepayment required.
Event vouchers accepted. To register with a voucher, please call us at 612.625.1662. You must bring voucher(s) to the event to redeem.
Presented in partnership with the Honorary Consulate of Switzerland in Minneapolis and members of the Swiss community in Minnesota.
