- If selected to join, your contact information will be made available on a password-protected database accessed by Great Decisions group leaders.
- Group leaders reach out with requests to lead a discussion. You are not obligated to accept any particular request.
- You and the group leader coordinate the date, time, venue, and honorarium for the presentation.
- You deliver a short 30-45 minute presentation about the topic.
- You lead a Q&A or group discussion to continue the conversation.
- You will receive the Great Decisions E-Newsletter to stay up-to-date on program news.
Speaker Responsibilities
Speakers are responsible for fostering a thoughtful and engaging discussion on complex and sometimes sensitive topics. To help groups get the most out of their discussion, speakers are asked to:
- Prepare a presentation about the topic based on your personal knowledge and experience. You are also welcome to include or summarize information from the Great Decisions materials.
- Leave plenty of time for Q&A to engage the audience directly on these topics.
- Global Minnesota and the Foreign Policy Association are nonpartisan organizations. Please do not use your presentation to promote any particular viewpoint, organization, or business interest.
- Communicate clearly to group leaders about logistics, including location, parking, security/arrival info, and stipend payment arrangements.
- Communicate with group leaders on how the discussion will be moderated.
- Follow up with group leaders after the event and arrange stipend payment.
