Nigeria’s largest city and one of the fastest growing urban areas in Africa, Lagos has seen quite a bit of movement over the last 18 months. Just now back in Minnesota, Lawrence will share his insights on this fascinating and challenging region, including developments on Boko Haram, environmental issues, trade, democracy, and ethnic tensions.

About the Speaker

Lawrence (Larry) Foster is a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, who just returned from Lagos, Nigeria, where he was the Deputy Immigrant Visa Chief for Mission Nigeria and also reported on wildlife trafficking and environmental issues. His next assignment will be Shanghai, China after a year in Washington, D.C. learning Chinese Mandarin. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Larry spent nearly 10 years in Minneapolis with U.S. Bank in various marketing and product roles. A graduate of CUNY Baruch College, he is originally from the New York City area where he worked for Standard & Poor’s and Citibank before moving to Minnesota. Larry has traveled to all 50 U.S. states and nearly 50 countries.
