Global Conversations MINNEAPOLIS: Women in International Development

March 13, 2019 @ 6:00 pm CDT

/ Free

Online registration is closed. Walk-ins welcome.

Over the last decade, there have been tremendous gains in women’s global economic empowerment, with more women becoming entrepreneurs and gaining access to financial and other vital services. Yet, challenges remain, including an increase in global hunger and malnutrition in the last several years.

Join us for a discussion with Lauren Hendricks, Executive Vice President for Program Strategy and Institutional Relations at Grameen Foundation, on how we can create new opportunities for women around the world by closing gender gaps in access to financial services, digital technology, and productive assets, and by strengthening women’s decision-making power in their homes and communities.

The evening will also include a panel presentation by international women entrepreneurs from around the world including Afghanistan, Italy, Jamaica, and Serbia, who will share their stories and experiences. These visitors will be in Minnesota as part of our Professional Exchanges program and participants in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.

Following the program, all attendees are invited to a reception to meet the international visitors and speakers.
