In a new series of audio conversations, Global Minnesota Marketing & Communications Manager Nick Hayen talks with some of the amazing people Global Minnesota connects with in our mission to advance international understanding and engagement.
In this first podcast interview, Nick is joined by Yigit Ates, Director of Commodity Exchanges at the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye. Mr. Ates recently visited Minnesota as part of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program. For his visit, Global Minnesota created a custom itinerary including meetings with Ecolab, General Mills, Institute for Agriculture & Trade Policy, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Minnesota Farm Bureau, Partners in Food Solutions, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the University of Minnesota Extension. His visiting group included agriculture and trade specialists from nearly a dozen countries including Botswana, Bulgaria, Nigeria, Peru, Uruguay, and Uzbekistan.
Global Minnesota was honored to host these professionals participating in the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program.

About Yigit Ates
Mr. Yigit Ates is the Director for Agriculture and Livestock at the Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges. Mr. Ates works closely with the Turkish government to promote trade and agricultural interests on behalf of the industry, with the goal of increasing agricultural trade and solving market access and policy issues.
