Beach Time at Shady Oak

This event is being held in-person and is open to international and globally-minded students. 

Minnesota summer is all about lakes and making unforgettable memories, and this is your chance to enjoy it all with fellow international and globally-minded college students.

Join Global Minnesota at Shady Oak Beach, one of the Twin Cities’ hidden gems and recently named one of the area’s best beaches by the Star Tribune. With 76 feet of soft sandy shoreline and the cool, clear waters of spring-fed Shady Oak Lake, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the season.

Registration includes beach pass (normally $7), light snacks, and refreshing nonalcoholic beverages while supplies last. To stay comfortable, please remember to bring your own beach towel, sunscreen, water bottle, and any extra snacks you might enjoy.

Spots are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Global Minnesota staff and volunteers will offer car rides to registered students who need one. We will also set up a WhatsApp group to coordinate rides and help students stay connected.

Agenda:

• 12:00 – 12:20 pm: Meet at Global Minnesota
• 12:30 pm: Depart for Shady Oak Beach
• 1:10 pm: Arrival and Check-in at Shady Oak Beach
• 1:30 pm: Snacks and Activities Begin
• Afternoon: Beach time, games, and sandcastle challenge
• 5:00 pm: Depart from Shady Oak Beach
• 5:45 – 6:00 pm: Return to Global Minnesota
