Want to meet the next generation of leaders from over a dozen nations in Africa? Our Lunch & Learn series continues with a discussion featuring scholars participating in the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.

This amazing cohort of 24 Fellows includes government administrators, medical professionals, a sign language interpreter, and other emerging professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Biographies of Fellows


The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders is the flagship program of the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). Established in 2014, the Mandela Washington Fellowship has brought nearly 4,400 young leaders from every country in Sub-Saharan Africa to the United States for academic and leadership training. The Fellows, between the ages of 25 and 35, are accomplished innovators and leaders in their communities and countries.
