Strategic Alliances: Belarus & Europe

April 10 @ 5:30 pm CDT

/ Free

This free event is being held in-person and is open to everyone.

Ambassador Andrei Sannikov might be most well-known for his vocal criticism of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, but the exiled politician is also an accomplished author, human rights advocate, and negotiator. As a former Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus, what insights can he provide on the strategic alliance between Belarus and Europe?

Join Global Minnesota and East View Information Services for a special presentation from Ambassador Sannikov, where he’ll explore the complicated and tight-knit relationship between President Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and what their relationship means for the greater question of security in Eastern Europe and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The night before, don’t miss a special screening of the film “This Kind of Hope” about the life of Ambassador Sannikov. The documentary film will be screened at the Germanic-American Institute and registration for that event is available here.

About Ambassador Sannikov:

Ambassador Sannikov is a Belarusian politician, diplomat, and activist with decades of experience in international relations, diplomacy, and human rights advocacy. He is also a former Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus and 2010 presidential candidate. He is a committed advocate for democracy, human rights, and freedom in Belarus. Full bio and CV here.

Presented in partnership with East View Information Services.
