Year of South Africa Launch

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of former South African president, Nelson Mandela. In celebration of Mandela’s enduring contribution to the advancement of civil rights and the numerous ties between Minnesota and South Africa, join us for a launch event of our Year of South Africa.

The evening will feature special guest Consul General Phumzile Mazibuko from the South African Consulate General in Chicago, members of several prominent Minnesota organizations that are engaging in travel to South Africa to strengthen Minnesota ties in the region, the lively sounds of African band Shalita, and complimentary South African hors d’oeuvres and wine.
