Star Tribune: International Women of Courage Award winners offer Mideast hope

In the latest Global Minnesota Great Decisions dialogue, Star Tribune editorial writer John Rash interviewed Dr. Nihal Naj Ali Al-Awlaqi of Yemen and Dr. Nagham Nawzat Hasan of Iraq, who were among 14 honored with the U.S. Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award. John Rash highlights Dr. Al-Awlaqi and Dr. Hasan’s significant work and how much the Middle East stands to gain from fuller participation of women, especially in areas experiencing violence.

Introducing Global Minnesota!

The Saying Goes, “Change is Good”

And we couldn’t agree more. After celebrating 60 years, we recognize now as the right time to make a change that will help ensure our vital and engaging mission remains relevant today and for future generations. Our new name, Global Minnesota, better represents the programs, events, and connections we create, as well as communities, organizations, and individuals who share in our work. As 2015 showed us, highlighting the world’s most pressing issues that demand the global audience’s attention is more important than ever.

New Name, Same Mission and Values

We couldn’t create the important programs we put on without the help of so many people and communities. And we recognize those who have built our strong foundation and mission, and who will help us evolve as Global Minnesota. We are grateful for the continued support and look forward to providing the same high-quality and meaningful programs that connect and engage Minnesotans with the world.

Together – as members, employees, volunteers, and communities – we are Global Minnesota. Join us in embracing this new identity as we continue to explore the world.
