Global Conversations: The Koreas

February 10, 2016 @ 11:30 am CST

At the end of World War II, the northern half of the Korean peninsula was occupied by the Soviet Union, the southern by the United States. Today, the North is underdeveloped, impoverished, and ruled by a corrupt, authoritarian government, while the South has advanced rapidly to become one of the world’s most developed countries.

Join us for the first Global Conversations of 2016, with Dr. Hangtae Cho, Director of Language Instruction and Korean Senior Lecturer at the University of Minnesota, as we explore the Koreas and the possibility of and even desire for reunification.
